When I mention to people that I am a wellness coach they automatically assume that I will be telling them to meditate, do yoga and drink green smoothies every day. This is very far from the actual truth of what a wellness coach is so please let me take the time to explain what a wellness coach is and why you may find the services of a wellness coach helpful.

Have you ever noticed your friends (or yourself!) talking about what you want to do and what you actually do? A wellness coach bridges this gap. Wellness coaching uses a step by step structured approach to help you achieve what you truly desire. It uses evidence based techniques from coaching psychology, positive psychology and behavioural change to guide you through resistance and change, allowing you to start to take control of your own life.
What is Coaching ?

Coaching is all about us working together. We look at your values and what is important to you and we make plans together to help you start to make positive changes in your life. We look at what barriers or blocks there might be and together we formulate strategies and plans that will allow you to make these changes in your life.
This is a very supportive environment. There are no right or wrong answers and it is not about me dictating to you what you should be doing. You are in control the entire time. We look at what your overall goals are and why you want to achieve them and then we break this down into smaller, more manageable goals. I support you through this process. We talk about how important it is for you to make the changes and how confident you feel able to make these changes. We look at your beliefs and concerns (For example: I’ve tried every weight loss program and I’ve never been able to lose weight so I just won’t be able to lose weight in the future). It is your responsibility to make the changes but I am here to help you and support you through this process. I want you to make changes that last a lifetime. One important thing to consider is that we look at behavioural goals not outcome goals, so we won’t focus that you want to lose 30kg, we focus on WHY you want to lose the weight. It is about tapping into your potential, that perhaps you haven’t even discovered yet and helping you to reach your optimal performance in life.
So what kind of areas does wellness cover?
Wellness means different things to different people but overall wellness generally takes into account exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management and overall health. Life is busy and things can often go out of balance. As a coach I am here to mentor and support you to help you achieve your goals, dreams and desires.
Who would need a wellness coach?
Anyone! I’ve used a wellness coach before when I worked in my corporate job. I knew what changes I wanted to make and why I wanted to make them. I just wasn’t able to commit to making it happen. Having a wellness coach gave me someone to be accountable to and it helped me set mini-milestones to achieve my goals in small steps. It was really powerful; much more than I realised it would be. Anyone who is looking to improve their overall health, fitness, and stress levels but is having trouble committing to this alone would really benefit from some encouragement and support from a wellness coach. I will help you build your confidence so that you start to believe in yourself. You are the expert in your own life and I want you to realise that.
