Have you ever wondered why carbs make you feel sleepy and cause you to put on weight yet your best friend can eat so many carbs and they are still slim? Or have you tried a vegan diet and felt worse yet you thought you would thrive and have better health because everyone told you that meat was bad for us? Or perhaps your partner springs out of bed in the morning full of energy yet you take longer to get going and need to get up later.
So did I! I’ve had all these thoughts and many more. I’ve had frustrations with clients who were unable to lose weight no matter what they did or others that still couldn’t thrive and have optimal energy even though they were eating lots of fruit and vegetables. So I went looking for answers, both for my clients and personally for myself.
And what I found was so interesting that I’ve decided to change how I coach clients from this point forward. Be ready to hang up all your pre-conceived ideas and read this blog with an open mind because there are some things that are going to challenge you.
I have always thought that one plan is not right for every body and I used to get frustrated going to nutrition or wellness talks where they would say everyone has to be paleo, vegan or raw (for example). Or even that everyone should be up at 6am attending boot camp and if you’re not, you’re lazy!
But I couldn’t work out how we could really individualise a program for someone without a lot of trial and error.
Enter ph360: Personal Health from a 360 degree perspective.
Ph360 is an online health platform that calculates health advice for your exact individual needs. When I talk exact individual needs, I’m talking about things like the foods to eat or avoid for your body type (even which fruit and vegetables are best for your body type and which ones should be avoided), the type of exercise to do and the time to do it and the type of climate that you optimally should live in. You end up with a genetic profile based on 12 body measurements and an in depth questionnaire that looks at your medical history, your ancestry, your current lifestyle and environment. This genetic profile is broken down into two parts: your phenotypic and epigenetic profile.
Phenotype Profile
The way your genes present when you look at yourself in the mirror i.e. your hair colour, eye colour, height, length of bones etc. Your phenotype is affected by your epigenetics.
Epigenetic Profile
Epigenetics is what externally influences the genes that you were born with i.e. where you live, the stress that you are currently under, the food you eat.
Epigenetic factors play a huge role in how our genes express (or don’t) express themselves.
The ph360 platform has over 10,000 measures engaged within the program with 500 different algorithms. The platform uses studies and research from Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Anthropometry, Embryology, Chronobiology, Endocrinology, Neuropsychology, Molecular Biology and lots of up to date research from the field of epigenetics.
Ph360 helps you understand your genetic information. We are born with a set of genes but what we need to realise is that the genes we are born with do not have to be our health story for our life. Whatever age you are, your genes are your genes.
However 95% of your health is determined by what your environment does to your genes, NOT YOUR GENES.
(Note-You can read more about this at “The Biology of Belief” by Dr Bruce Lipton.)
It IS possible to switch off genes that cause DIS-ease in the body. It’s also important to remember that we have the same genes whether we’re 18 or 80. Launching this cutting edge coaching will enable my current and future clients to have optimal health at any age, based on your epigenetic factors. The ph360 platform allows you to look at your genes and your environment and will enable you to thrive, not just survive; based on information available in your personalised system. This consists of an easy to use app that you can refer to, and of course coaching from myself.
Once all your measurements are taken and we complete all the data required, you will then be provided with a personalised plan (a body profile also known as your biotype) that will be completely unique to you because there is only one of you in the entire world! The profile focuses on 6 main areas. In summary these can be described as:
Food:
The types of food to include in your daily diet and the types of foods that are recommended you avoid. It also includes the best time of day to eat food and how often to eat.
Fitness:
What type of exercise suits your biotype and when is the best time of day for you to exercise. You really will be surprised the difference this makes when you get it right.
Mind:
The best way for you to unwind and relax the mind and manage daily life to find your flow i.e. do you thrive in a group or do you need time on your own?
Place:
The best type of climate for you to live and holiday and the most optimal time your body needs to rest and go on holiday.
Social:
The best ways that you interact with others in a social setting and how you can utilise this to always feel your very best.
Talents
Natural talents are determined by many factors. The ph360 assessment will help you to find the best type of workplace/employment, volunteering or daily tasks that are suited to your natural talents
Ph360 is the way forward for the future because it teaches you how to reach and sustain optimum health. And who wouldn’t want that?
What this means for my clients is that they can fully understand how their body works and be more understanding of it. You can therefore work with your strengths to achieve the best possible outcomes in all areas of your life. How wonderful would that be?
Why does this interest me personally?
In 2016 I got sick. I took a long hard look at what was going on in my life: environmentally, exercise, food/diet, socially etc. I knew that running 200km over 4 days (In September 2016) had been the final straw for me in a year that I battled with my health and I realised sadly that perhaps long distance running was not for me. We had recently moved to a new area and I had lost my support network. We had a stressful year with family getting sick and many other things going on. But one thing I thought was working well was my healthy vegan diet. But eventually I decided something wasn’t adding up. After seeing a wonderful holistic GP at the end of last year, with no pressure from him, I decided to stop being a vegan. I started incorporating eggs (from a known source) and wild caught fish into my diet. The changes have been absolutely amazing. I have had so many compliments about how much better I look especially my hair and my skin. But it wasn’t just external validation I needed (although in the early days, this helped immensely-thank you to those people). Within weeks of this change I became a different person. I also stopped running, started doing yoga and learnt how to relax more.
What has blown my mind was that I did all this before I knew about ph360 and personalised health in this much detail. When I did my ph360 training and looked at my body type, I have a naturally alkaline body so I actually need animal protein to balance that out (remember it is not good to be too acidic or too alkaline). I need a lot of essential fatty acids (hello fish that I’ve been craving since 2003-no joke!) My profile also told me that my body prefers high intensity exercise and then rest (not running 50km at a time!!) Although I like time alone, I need to socialise also, but because I was unwell I was hiding away from the world.
In summary: I was doing so much wrong for my body type yet I thought that I was a healthy vegan doing lots of exercise and couldn’t understand why I was sick. Please, listen to your body. I knew that I needed to start eating animal products again and not one person influenced this decision. After 10 years as a vegetarian and another 3.5 years as a vegan was this a hard decision? Yes and no. When I thought about my health it was a very easy decision to make because if I am not well I am not able to help anybody.
I am super passionate about ph360 and even more so because of my own personal health battles in 2016. I have not come across anything like this before and it really is the world’s most advanced health platform. There is so much science behind this model and being a science nerd with two science degrees, I like to see evidence. There is a medical and scientific team working with ph360 so there is lots of research behind this. That makes me even more proud to be a part of it and to bring it you, so that you are not just healthy and happy but you are thriving at your optimal health.

Melanie ,you are doing what is right for your ,you are not saying being Vegan is not good , but it’s not good for you ,as your Mum I law ,although I live a long way away , I have been aware of your many health issues troubling you ,please believe in your body messages ,after all ,that is your teaching ,my love as always xxxx
Absolutely! Thank you. I know people that thrive on a vegan diet. It just didn’t suit my biotype and I am so glad I know that now because I am so much healthier and happier. It is so good to be able to share what I have learnt to be able to help others.
Melanie, you have to do what is right for your health and if this works for you then it’s meant to be.Sending lots of love and hugs Maxine xxxx
Thank you. It is definitely working for me and the great thing is that we’e all so different so we will all have our own individual plans.
Isn’t this intriguing. We need what we need, and we have to nourish our beautiful bodies, and they know exactly what that is. Not an easy choice for you to change I’m sure. Great work, love it.
Our bodies are so clever-we just need to listen to them. Definitely not an easy choice, but the right one for my body definitely.
Makes sense Mel and good on you for taking charge of your health and through your training and research you’ve come away a healthier you. I can imagine just how ‘eager’ you are to help others feel great. ????
Thanks Steph. Through training, research and personal experience I am so eager to help others in this area.
I have friends who have a “healthy diet” but often look very unwell and have many health issues. This could certainly explain it. It makes perfect sense. It sounds like this process could make a difference to many!
Yes, absolutely. I believe it will make a difference to so many people. It can help everyone, even those that are feeling good but striving for absolute optimal health.
Well done Mel for sharing that and encouraging people to listen to their bodies . Its not always easy to do especially with so much information out there . Lots of positivity about it which is good to see.
So glad you are feeling so much better. I may have to make some enquiries into it 🙂
Thanks Sharon, I’m so excited by this and it feels like it will be the health platform of the future, beneficial to everyone. It is so important that we listen to our bodies and I hope more people will start to do this in the future. Would be happy to chat more about it.
Hi Melanie, thanks for sharing such interesting information. Having done periods of high intensity training under all sorts of diet regimes whilst juggling a stressful & demanding career and a family life, I too have experienced the highs & lows of your physical body running like a well oiled machine and one that is barely limping along. I’m very interested to hear more of your new programme and look forward to finding my happy medium ☺️Glad to hear you continue to research & redefine your own happiness.
Thank you so much for your comment Carmen. You raise a very important point also that what works for us now may not have worked for us 12 months ago and may not even work for us in 12 months time. We’re constantly evolving and it’s great to be able to adapt to that.
Beautifully written Mel,
Sounds fascinating and totally inspiring. However, I have thrived being vegan and will never go back. Know that this will work wonderfully and resonate for many others.
Thanks so much Megan. I have vegan friends who absolutely thrive on it too so it is another reason to find out what works for us as individuals so we can be at optimal health. So glad that it is working for you.
Well done for sharing! ???? our bodies do really know what is best ???? I think this may be something I need to do!
Thanks Mikayla, our bodies certainly do know. We just need to listen to them!
Sounds fantastic Mel, I’m always intrigued about how different people seem to thrive on different diets, and for me this has changed as I’ve grown older – the foods that used to suit me no longer do. Sometimes I even look at how my son eats, I’ll offer him a wide range of foods and he’ll choose different things depending on what he’s been doing and how he’s feeling, and stops eating when he’s full, something I never seem to do! It takes a lot to really listen to ourselves, and there’s no ‘one size fits all’. Will be great to hear of how this goes ????
Thanks Zoe. You are so spot on when you say about foods that used to suit you no longer do. Our bodies needs change so much depending on age, hormones, stress, environmental etc and we need to listen to that-just like you son does. How awesome is that! I’m so excited to be able to help clients with a lot more personalisation.
This is completely fascinating… and I AM SO THRILLED you have found what you need for you…. I would like to know more for myself please
Thank you. Yes, found what works for me and my body now. Who knows what happens down the track as so much changes and that is why I love this coaching as it adapts your plan to so many things, for example if you move from a cold to warm climate. I will be sending out my newsletter tomorrow with further details and a special offer so stay tuned.
